Based on the Democrats’ war on coal, it’s fair to assume she won’t be talking about coal jobs…
When Hillary Clinton declared on national television that she was going “to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business,” Ted Strickland was silent. He didn’t denounce Clinton’s comments.
But Retread Ted’s war on coal didn’t start there.
While in his “dream job” as President of the liberal special interest group, Center for American Progress (CAP), Strickland announced his support for the EPA Clean Power Plan. CAP went on to call coal a “dead man walking” and celebrated that the Clean Power Plan “speeds up the transition.”
Despite thousands of hardworking Ohioans relying on coal jobs across the state, Strickland’s Washington DC special interest group was devoted to putting those very people out of work.
In a recent Roll Call story, Strickland was recognized for his endorsement by “an anti-coal group.” The story also notes that Strickland’s position on coal grew progressively worse for Ohio over time, and Christian Palich, president of the Ohio coal association told Roll Call that, “many who had supported Strickland…in the past felt [he] had abandoned coal.” They were right.
Strickland is doubling down, not backing down, from the Democrats’ war on coal.
