Washington, D.C. – Last March, Senate Democrats rejected an amendment from Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) that would prohibit convicted prisoners like the Boston Marathon bomber from receiving taxpayer-funded stimulus checks. Maggie Hassan, who represents nearby New Hampshire, was one of the 50 Democrats who voted to block the amendment.

Instead of apologizing, Hassan is doubling down on her unconscionable vote to send tax money to a convicted terrorist.

In a 50-50 Senate, Hassan could have been the deciding vote to block convicted prisoners like the Boston Bomber from receiving stimulus checks. But instead of doing the right thing, she voted to send prisoners checks. Now, ONE YEAR later, Hassan tried to defend her vote by bizarrely claiming she supports allowing the Boston Bomber to use New Hampshire taxpayers’ money to pay restitution to his victims.

Too little too late. This is yet another example of how Maggie Hassan votes against New Hampshire values. If she really didn’t want Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to get a taxpayer-funded stimulus check, she could have (and should have) prevented it.
