Washington, D.C. – New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan continues her quest to convince voters that it’s in their best interest to put the fate of their state’s elections in the hands of Washington politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. This weekend, Sen. Hassan appeared on WMUR and said:
“As I understand, the ‘For The People Act,’ it really doesn’t change the way New Hampshire would run its elections.”
That’s funny because not only is this statement inaccurate, but it’s been refuted repeatedly by Democrat Secretary of State Bill Gardner who has served in his role as chief election official for 40 years. It’s clear that Senator Hassan thinks that Bill Gardner is clueless and that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi deserve more control in New Hampshire.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The Corrupt Politicians Act (H.R. 1/S.1) is a raw deal for New Hampshire, and the state’s leading election expert says so. Now, Maggie Hassan is again repeating her debunked claim that the Democrats’ massive expansion of federal authority in election systems would do nothing to change New Hampshire’s elections. If she wants to continue to live in the fantasy world that Washington has the Granite State’s best interests in mind, she is free to do so. However, as polls suggest, voters aren’t buying it.”
