President Trump is headed to West Virginia today to tout the unmitigated success of his tax cuts for Mountain State families and businesses. Joe Manchin’s response? Attack the man who won West Virginia by 42 points.
Manchin is certainly feeling the heat because of his decision to side with liberals in the Senate and vote against President Trump’s tax cuts. The Democrat Senator was called out by Vice President Pence back in February for repeatedly opposing President Trump’s agenda on everything from building the wall to tax cuts. And Washington Democrats are clearly worried about Manchin’s reelection prospects, with Chuck Schumer’s Super PAC releasing a TV ad to boost his sagging campaign. But if Manchin’s strategy is to attack President Trump in West Virginia of all places, he may as well start packing up his yacht now.
“Joe Manchin’s decision to stop pretending to be on West Virginia’s side and directly attack President Trump is refreshingly honest,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Manchin has made clear that he has no intention of supporting President Trump’s agenda, no matter what West Virginians have to say on the matter.”
