Washington, D.C. – Iowa Democrat Senate candidate Mike Franken pledged not to take Corporate PAC money, yet he side-stepped that pledge. Now, to make matters worse, he is taking money from problematic, liberal PACs and people.
Today’s problematic contributor to Franken’s campaign is Heather Podesta, Tony Podesta’s ex-wife. Podesta stepped back from politics amid controversy over being named in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. Yikes. Don’t want to be associated with that.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Interesting move from Mike Franken. While Franken rails against money from corporate PACs, like John Deere employees, he has no problem taking money from problematic PACs and people who don’t align with Iowans’ values. Mike Franken’s embrace of sketchy D.C. insiders show Iowans what kind of politician he would be – a phony D.C. Democrat who chooses D.C. over Iowa.”
