Washington, D.C. – Iowa Democrat Senate candidate Mike Franken pledged not to take Corporate PAC money, yet he side-stepped that pledge. Now, to make matters worse, he is taking money from problematic, liberal PACs.
Today’s problematic PAC reveal is the Midwest Values PAC, which is Al Franken’s PAC. Yes, the U.S. Senator who had to resign over sexual misconduct claims. Mike Franken – who has also been accused of sexual assault – accepted $2,500 from Al Franken’s PAC. Mike Franken has been quick to embrace the disgraced Senator. On top of taking money from the Midwest Values PAC, Mike Franken has encouraged Al Franken to run again and paid for digital ads with Al Franken raising money for his campaign.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Interesting move from Mike Franken. While Franken advocates to not take money from corporate PACs, like John Deere employees, he has no problem taking money from problematic PACs that don’t align with Iowans’ values. Mike Franken’s embrace of Al Franken shows Iowa women where he stands on sexual harassment – but that must be something the two Frankens have in common. Like always, Franken makes moves without Iowa in mind.”
