Last Week, 30-Year Incumbent Missed TWO Committee Hearings on the VA in ONE Day
Washington, D.C. – Patty Murray claims to be a champion of veterans. But words can’t replace action – or in this case, inaction.
Last Wednesday, there were two important hearings on veterans health on committees that Murray sits on:
- At 10:00am, the Senate Committee on Appropriations – of which Murray is a senior member of – held a subcommittee hearing on the “VA’s electronic health record modernization,” featuring the Biden administration’s Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Murray never showed up.
- At 3:00pm, the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs – another place where Murray holds a senior position – held a full committee hearing on “ensuring veterans’ timely access to care in the VA and the community,” featuring the Biden administration’s Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Murray never showed up.
On that same day, she had time to give a partisan floor speech, introduce a judicial nominee, and vote four times on the Senate floor. After three decades in the Senate, did Patty Murray think no one would notice?
