Washington, D.C. – This morning, Politico is out with their new Senate ratings, and the biggest shifts are the NH and WA Senate races. Politico moved the NH Senate race back into the “Toss Up” category following multiple polls showing General Bolduc in the lead and reports of unprecedented energy on the ground. And moved the WA Senate race from “Likely Democratic” to “Lean Democratic” as polls in WA tighten and Tiffany Smiley is keeping 30-year incumbent Sen. Patty Murray on her toes.
TL;DR: General Bolduc is poised to topple Senator Maggie Hassan because he is running a winning race while Maggie Hassan is running a losing race. And Tiffany Smiley is the new mom in town outspending Patty Murray, forcing pollsters to shift their political views of WA State.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “All eyes are rightfully turning to New Hampshire. The state that long ago we told you would decide the U.S. Senate is proving that it is indeed the key race of 2022. General Don Bolduc has run a quintessential New Hampshire campaign, focusing on the grassroots and retail politics. The energy is unmistakable. Meanwhile, Maggie Hassan is running a…well, she isn’t running much of a campaign at all. Then you have WA State, which many pundits were sleeping on early on in the cycle. But Tiffany Smiley has showed us she is the new mom in town who can go toe-to-toe with 30-year incumbent Patty Murray.”
