Washington, D.C. – Eight years ago today, Maggie Hassan signed into law her crowning achievement: A 23% gas tax increase – the largest in state history.
Now that her massive gas tax increase has become a political vulnerability, Hassan is doing what Washington politicians do: trying to pretend it never happened! Unfortunately for her, it was real and Hassan’s tax hike would make fuel more expensive for consumers for years.
Once Hassan got to the U.S. Senate, she continued her streak of punishing Granite Staters at the pump by voting for nearly every bill that was detrimental to American energy production.
Check out the NRSC’s latest ad about Maggie Hassan jacking up the price of gas to remember this solemn anniversary:
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Maggie Hassan never met a gas tax hike she didn’t like. Now, with her career on the line, she is singing a different tune. No one’s buying it. We will continue to remind voters for the next six months of Maggie Hassan’s work to make gas more expensive for Granite Staters.”
