Murray’s 30-Year Record in the Senate Has Prioritized DC Lobbyists and Democrats Over Washington State Voters
Washington, D.C. – Patty Murray brands herself as someone who is “working for Washington State,” when in reality she works for Washington, D.C.
What exactly has Murray achieved during her 30 years in the Senate?
- Since entering the Senate in 1992, she has only passed NINE bills, only 1.6 percent of legislation she has sponsored.
- No wonder The Seattle Times said Murray is “not known for landmark policy achievements” and “doesn’t have a long record of major legislation in her name.”
With nearly zero legislative accomplishments, what exactly has Murray been spending her time doing?
- In 2011, while she was in charge of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee – “spending much of her time hosting fundraisers for lobbyists, ringing up major donors (especially lobbyists) for campaign cash” – she was appointed to a so-called “Deficit-Reduction Supercommittee” that good-government groups called “a message to special interests to back your truck up to Senator Murray’s office and dump your money here” and “a lobbyists’ bonanza.”
- By 2016, Murray became “Assistant Democratic Leader” in the U.S. Senate, “shaping the Democratic agenda and strategy.”
It’s no wonder both national and local press have said Murray is “not much different from any other establishment candidate” and has had “an incredible turnaround” from “consummate outsider” to “Washington, D.C. insider.”
Patty isn’t for the people; she’s for whatever Washington, D.C. wants.
