Up from $2.69 at the Beginning of 2021, That’s How Much Washingtonians Are Paying for Gas Because of Murray’s Anti-Energy Policies
Washington, D.C. – Gas prices are skyrocketing across America again and consumers in Washington State aren’t being spared. Here’s what KOMO News is reporting from Seattle:
How much have Washingtonians been suffering at the pump under the Biden-Murray economy?
- $5.30: That’s how much Washingtonians are paying for a gallon of gas today.
- $2.69: That’s how much Washingtonians were paying for a gallon of gas in January 2021.
- 97 Percent: That’s how much gas prices have risen from the beginning of the Biden administration.
But it’s not just gas at the pump. It’s also natural gas used for home heating:
- $1.261 Per Therm: That’s how much Seattle residents are paying for utility piped natural gas as of August 2022.
- $1.090 Per Therm: That’s how much Seattle residents were paying for utility piped natural gas in August 2020.
- 15.7 Percent: That’s how much natural gas costs have gone up in two years for Seattle residents.
Why are Washingtonians in this situation?
- After Joe Biden cancelled the Keystone XL Pipeline, costing thousands of jobs and billions in wages, Patty voted four times against restarting construction that pipeline.
- After Joe Biden was “holding back new drilling permits” and halting lease sales on federal lands, Patty Murray voted twice against measures that would’ve allowed for energy production on federal lands, which account for 25% of American oil and gas production.
- Patty would further hurt America’s ability to produce domestic energy, voting three times in favor of a ban on natural gas fracking.
- Patty would make home energy costs higher, voting to allow local building codes that force property owners to phase out natural gas heating and appliances in favor of more expensive options.
Patty Murray and her price hikes are hurting Washingtonians and they are ready to hold her accountable for them in November.
