Since November, when Pennsylvanians went to the polls and elected President Trump and Senator Pat Toomey, Bob Casey has made a hard left turn. The once quiet Senator with a reputation for disappearing from view in non-election years has suddenly morphed into a fiery left wing liberal. And folks in Pennsylvania are noticing.
Casey is now being called an “aggressive progressive” by home state press, thanks to his newfound outspoken liberalism. Where he once pretended to be “pro-life,” Casey is now holding press conferences at Planned Parenthood clinics. And Casey has signaled that he may join the left in a potential filibuster attempt of Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court. The sudden turn to the rhetoric of the far left is a new strategy for Casey, but he certainly has the record to back it, having voted with Elizabeth Warren 93% of the time in the Senate.
“Bob Casey should be commended for finally coming clean to Pennsylvanians as the unapologetic Washington liberal his record shows he has always been,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Casey’s new fiery left wing rhetoric shows he is angling to join Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders as a voice for the far left, instead of working for Pennsylvanians in the Senate.”
