Washington, D.C – Chuck Schumer plans to pressure Senate Democrats to move forward on a $3.5 trillion spending bill that he’s attempting to pass without a single Republican vote. The $3.5 trillion bill is a liberal wish list of reckless spending that seems to underestimate costs by nearly $1.5 trillion, bringing the actual cost of the bill more in line with socialist Bernie Sanders’ original proposal.
The biggest question now is whether or not Chuck Schumer has the Democrat votes to get a multi-trillion-dollar spending bill with trillions in tax hikes across the finish line, regardless of the status of the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
Senator Maggie Hassan’s team has been working overtime to try and paint her – the most vulnerable member of the Senate – as “bipartisan,” even though she votes with Chuck Schumer 99% of the time and Bernie Sanders 96% of the time. This week, she will face her biggest test of bipartisanship yet: Will she support the reckless, hyper-partisan $3.5 trillion socialist spending bill?
If she does, all talk of “independence” and “bipartisanship” should go out the window for good.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The Democrats’ $3.5 trillion tax-and-spend bill is completely incompatible with any notion of bipartisanship and should be dismissed out-of-hand by any independent-thinking legislator. As inflation skyrockets and consumer confidence sags, it is economically insane to support a reckless spending bill on top of all Senate Democrats’ previous spending. This crazy spending proposal is compounded by trillions in higher taxes that will hurt American workers and small businesses. Everyone in New Hampshire should watch what happens in Washington very closely this week as Maggie Hassan faces the ultimate test of whether she’s truly moderate.”
