After President Trump targeted Senator Jon Tester, promising the Montana Democrat would have a “big price to pay” and calling for his resignation, a new report from the Associated Press today shows that Tester’s campaign has been forced to spend big money to make up ground.
The report details how Tester’s campaign was thrown into full-out panic, bumping up spending and blowing nearly $800,000 on television and internet advertising in just the two weeks after President Trump’s comments alone. The move reeks of desperation and shows that President Trump’s continued focus on defeating Tester is taking a heavy toll on the vulnerable Montana Democrat, spelling disaster for his campaign in a state Trump won by 20 points.
“Senator Tester isn’t going to be able to hide behind television ads or phony campaign promises this time around,” said NRSC Spokesman Calvin Moore. “In Washington, Senator Tester has sided with his liberal allies to obstruct President Trump at every turn, and now he’s going to pay the price.”
