Despite the Trump-Pence ticket’s resounding, 42-point win in West Virginia, Joe Manchin has spent the past year opposing the President’s agenda. And as the backlash hits him, he’s not taking it so well.
After his vote against the Trump tax plan, the President called out Manchin as a fake centrist and a do-nothing Senator. And just yesterday, Vice President Pence slammed Manchin for his repeated votes against the Trump agenda. Unable to contest anything the Vice President said, as Manchin did in fact vote against tax cuts, the repeal and replacement of Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood, and has promised to vote against the wall, Manchin’s only response was to say “Washington sucks,” and attack Pence personally. Talk about cracking under pressure.
And now his fellow West Virginian, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, is taking issue. After saying that Manchin’s failure to work across the aisle on tax cuts had disappointed the Vice President, Senator Capito took aim at his heated comments, saying, “I reject the premise that Washington sucks. We volunteer to come here, we ask people to send us to Washington and we’re serving in the greatest deliberative body in the most powerful nation. So I wouldn’t use that terminology to say the honor I have to be a United States Senator.” Stay tuned as Manchin continues to methodically alienate everyone in West Virginia!
