Washington, D.C. – Chuck Schumer is in a dilemma. The President’s “Build Back Broke” agenda is “dead” according to a member of Schumer’s own caucus, his party’s approval rating is in the toilet, and he is facing the very real prospect of being the “weakest Senate Majority Leader in memory.”
From hiding his secret deal with Joe Manchin over the summer, to forcing vulnerable Senators to cast a controversial filibuster vote that was never going to pass, many of Schumer’s losses were self-inflicted. So what is the cause of Schumer’s many self-inflicted defeats? As we’ve said all along: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Now, it’s not just the NRSC saying it. Yesterday, while reporting on Schumer’s bleak 50-50 Senate outlook, CNN reported that yes, he is very, very scared of AOC.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Chuck Schumer’s reign as Majority Leader has been defined by a series of self-inflicted defeats that resulted in him becoming the weakest Majority Leader in memory. For a year, the NRSC has been telling the world that Schumer’s failures are actually an attempt to save his own career from an AOC challenge. Now, it’s accepted as fact by those covering Capitol Hill. Well, we told ya so…”
