Washington, D.C. – In March, President Biden’s Department of Homeland Security implemented a rule change that took the power away from federal judges to grant amnesty claims at the border, and gave it to government bureaucrats at the U.S. Citizens and Immigration Service (USCIS). The USCIS is a service meant only to determine credible fear which would allow a claimant to appear before a judge.
So why would President Biden want to remove federal judges from the equation? That’s because only 14% of asylum seekers who are deemed credible by DHS bureaucrats are granted asylum by judges. Instead of concluding that the system is being abused, President Biden is trying to remove legal safeguards.
Today, Democrats defeated a bill from Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) to repeal this misguided policy.
Senators Mark Kelly, “MAGA” Maggie Hassan, Catherine Cortez Masto, Raphael Warnock, and Michael Bennet will have to explain to voters why they are advocating so strongly for a policy of open borders and amnesty when illegal border crossings have now hit an all-time high.
