Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democrats voted, not once, but TWICE to uphold the core tenants of the Green New Deal by rejecting Motions to Instruct (MTIs) from Sens. Mike Lee (UT) and Tom Cotton (AR).
The Lee MTI would have:
- Defunded the Green Climate Fund and other Green New Deal efforts made throughout the government.
- Stripped funding for involvement in the disastrous Paris Agreement that would cost thousands of American jobs, create more expensive energy, and allow China to do nothing.
The Cotton MTI would have:
- Stopped $8 billion of defense funding that should be going to combat China from funding the Green Climate Fund.
Instead of tackling our record-high debt, and inflation, vulnerable Senate Democrats like Mark Kelly, Maggie Hassan, and Raphael Warnock have approved billions upon billions of dollars to be spent on “green” proposals cooked up by politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.
Not only would these provisions cost American jobs, but they do nothing to combat the real culprit of climate change: China.
