Washington, D.C. – Senate Democrats have found themselves in quite the conundrum when it comes to Biden’s border crisis that they helped create.
First, their newfound calls for more border security clearly aren’t genuine and voters know that. Senate Democrats have spent their time in Washington voting against border security every chance they get. Phony border photo-ops like MAGA Maggie Hassan’s recent stunt won’t be taken seriously by voters.
Second, vulnerable Senate Democrats who oppose lifting Title 42 are losing support of their base. MAGA Maggie Hassan came under fire from a fellow New Hampshire Democrat who said her support for keeping Title 42 was “a slap in the face.” And organizers in Nevada say it’s “disappointing” that Catherine Cortez Masto supports keeping Title 42.
At the end of the day, Senate Democrats have no one to blame but themselves. They didn’t take Biden’s border crisis seriously from the beginning because they’re scared of radical D.C. Democrats like Chuck Schumer. Their election-year posturing about border security isn’t going to convince anyone that they care about border security.
Senate Democrats like Mark Kelly, Maggie Hassan, Catherine Cortez Masto, Raphael Warnock, and Michael Bennet can put out all the press releases and photo-ops about border security they want. That won’t change the fact they voted to send stimulus checks to illegal immigrants, voted to fund sanctuary cities, and voted to weaken the Remain in Mexico policy.
They helped Biden create this crisis and now they’re dealing with the consequences.
