Washington, D.C. – Senate Democrats just filibustered an amendment by Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) requiring the federal government to balance its budget over the next 10 years.
Although, as Senator Braun himself pointed out, it should not take 10 years to right our fiscal ship, a decade is a timeline no sane legislator could reject.
But Democrats Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Michael Bennet filibustered the amendment.
Over the last year, Democrats have spent trillions of dollars and have pushed for trillions more. Yet they have not once called for any cost cutting whatsoever.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “With inflation near record highs, and families struggling to make ends meet, there would be no better sign of solidarity than Congress pledging to finally live within their means. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats shot down this proposal, so they continue to spend as much as they like without any concern for their role in the worsening inflation crisis. It is this kind of out-of-touch BS that has Americans fed up with the party currently running the federal government.”
