Washington, D.C – As the brave people of Cuba make their voices heard and take a stand against the regime that has caused a once vibrant country to deteriorate, American leaders are speaking out in support.
Unfortunately, Congresswoman Val Demings, who votes with the Socialist Squad in the House 94% of the time, forgot a key word in her tweets yesterday: Socialism.
This isn’t the first time Demings has failed to stand up to the socialist wing of the Democrat Party. In 2020, when Senator Bernie Sanders made remarks in support of the Castro regime, Demings refused to weigh in on the comments or join her colleagues in a resolution condemning Bernie’s praise of Castro.
“I certainly will not guess about what Sen. Sanders said or what he meant to say. But what I do know is that several people who live in a very diverse state were upset by those comments,” Demings, a former police chief in Orlando, told me when I asked whether Sanders’s praise for Castro’s literacy programs was damaging in the Sunshine State. “We’re in the middle of a race. We’re going to let Floridians decide.” – The Washington Post
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Priscilla Ivasco: “Val Demings has failed to acknowledge the root cause of the problem in Cuba – socialism. Socialism doesn’t work. Americans know that, Floridians know that, and the people of Cuba are fighting it. Demings has made it quite clear that she won’t stand up to radical Democrats or the socialist ‘squad’ that has taken the reins of the Democrat Party. Leaders like Senator Marco Rubio are making a point to call out the Cuban regime for what it is and elevating the voices of the many brave individuals who are risking it all to bring a new day of freedom to their country.”
