Claire McCaskill is hitting the airwaves with some tough talk about the pharmaceutical industry in her new campaign ad. One piece of information McCaskill leaves out? Her campaign is funded by the industry’s campaign donations.
While McCaskill talks about getting tough in her TV ad, behind the scenes she’s cashing the pharmaceutical industry’s checks, to the tune of more than $150,000 in the 2018 election cycle alone. So those rising drug prices McCaskill is grandstanding about? They’re literally paying for her ads.
“Claire McCaskill is a caricature of a swampy politician, glad-handing the pharmaceutical lobbyists who are funding her campaign in Washington, then attacking the companies they work for when she’s back in Missouri,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Missouri voters are sick of career politicians like McCaskill and won’t fall for her phony act this November.”
