Chuck Schumer is heading to Hollywood this evening for an event hosted by Disney CEO Bob Iger to raise campaign cash for five of the red state Democrats he helped to endanger even further with his Schumer Shutdown.
Things may get a bit awkward between Schumer and Iger, as Disney is one of the more than 300 companies to announce bonuses, pay raises and other employee initiatives as a result of the Republican tax cuts that Schumer and his minions voted against unanimously. Last month, Iger announced that his company would give $1,000 bonuses to 125,000 workers and invest $50 million in a higher education program for its employees. No word on whether Schumer considers Disney’s bonuses “crumbs” or will tell Iger about his plans to repeal the law.
“It must be awkward for Chuck Schumer and his cronies that even their Hollywood donors are doling out bonuses to employees thanks to the Republican tax cuts,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “No matter how much Hollywood cash Schumer collects for red state Dems, it’s not going to be enough to make voters forget that their Democrat Senator voted against putting more money in their pockets.”
