This Friday, Indiana Democrats are set to honor Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky CEO Betty Crockrum with its lifetime achievement award. What does allegedly “pro-life” Indiana Democrat Joe Donnelly have to say about his party honoring the head of the state’s largest abortion provider? Well…nothing!
Donnelly is coming under fire from pro-life groups in Indiana for refusing to speak out against his party honoring an abortion CEO. Donnelly claims to be pro-life when he is asking Hoosiers for their votes, but his actions tell a different story. Not only is Donnelly refusing to denounce this lifetime achievement award for Planned Parenthood CEO Crockrum, he has also voted to funnel taxpayer dollars to the organization she leads. With DNC Chairman Tom Perez’s recent pronouncement that pro-life candidates are not welcome in the Democrat party, Donnelly’s actions should come as no surprise. Donnelly is making it clear that he’s willing to get in line with the party on abortion to maintain his support from Washington Democrats.
“Joe Donnelly’s refusal to speak out against his fellow Democrats honoring an abortion CEO with a lifetime achievement award speaks volumes,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “If Joe Donnelly doesn’t have the courage to stand up to his party on an issue he supposedly cares about, he is unfit to represent Indiana.”
