Three weeks after recklessly voting to shut down the government, Tina Smith has now been caught lying to her constituents.
The Washington Post reviewed her ridiculous claims that the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Act, which restricts abortion after 20 weeks, does not provide exceptions in the case of rape, incest, or health of the mother. The Post’s fact-checker concluded, “Smith is simply wrong to say rape and incest exceptions are not in the bill,” and awarded her one Pinocchio for her lies.
The Post’s fact-checker also advised Smith to delete her tweet with an explanatory note. As of now, Smith’s false statements are still posted on Twitter. Will Smith admit she was wrong and correct the record?
“Tina Smith’s first month in office has been a master class on how to lose reelection,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Smith has spent her time in Washington regurgitating liberal talking points, shutting down the government and lying to her constituents. Minnesotans deserve better and now know they can’t trust Tina Smith to tell the truth or represent their values.”
