Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders is headed to Michigan today to advocate for repealing the GOP tax relief that has helped countless Michiganders already. Now the question remains – will Debbie Stabenow join her far left-colleague’s call to take away the tax cuts that are already helping Michigan families?
Michigan’s Fiat Chrysler announced it is investing $1 billion and giving $2,000 bonuses to employees thanks to the tax relief plan. Other businesses, like Grand Rapids-based architecture engineering firm FTCH, are giving employees $1,500 bonuses. It’s clear the tax cuts have been massively successful in Michigan. But Stabenow, who voted against the plan, has refused to admit she was wrong to oppose the tax cuts. Bernie thinks that tax cuts are “one of the worst pieces of legislation in the modern history of our country.” So, does Stabenow want to roll back the tax cuts’ success in Michigan?
“Debbie Stabenow needs to tell voters if she supports pay raises and bonuses for them or the radical ideas of her socialist colleague Bernie Sanders,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “If Democrats are running on a platform of repealing the GOP tax cuts, Michiganders deserve to know why Stabenow thinks they don’t deserve more in their paychecks.”
