WBNS: “Former Governor Ted Strickland hasn’t released updated fundraising totals just yet.”
While Rob Portman announced on Wednesday that his campaign raised $3.8 million this quarter, “Retread” Ted Strickland appears to be waiting for the end of the week for his preferred method of breaking bad news, the Friday news dump.
With only $2.6 million cash on hand as of the last fundraising period, Strickland is far, far away from raising the $20 million that his own campaign stated was “mission-critical” in an internal memo.
While Strickland waits for Friday to come around, here’s a list of excuses for Retread Ted to choose from in justifying yet another poor quarter:
-
Strickland’s sinking favorability rating
-
Hillary Clinton’s campaign stops in Ohio after stating, “we’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”
-
TWO editorials hitting Strickland for abandoning southeast Ohio and Ohio’s coal workers
-
Strickland’s damage-control tour through Appalachia after losing a critical coal endorsement to Rob Portman
-
Retread Ted’s cancelled fundraiser and close ties to Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe who is under federal investigation
- Retread Ted losing to Rob Portman in a Democratic poll
