Shortly after the embarrassing clip surfaced, reports broke that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee decided to pull the remaining TV advertising budget for Strickland all but abandoning his flailing candidacy.

In case you missed it…

Cleveland.com: “Ted Strickland said Saturday that he regrets his choice of words when he said in Columbus this week that for-profit charter schools have "raped" Ohio taxpayers.”

The Columbus Dispatch: “The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is pulling the rest of TV advertising for Senate candidate Ted Strickland…In other Strickland news, he raised some eyebrows this week when during a forum in Columbus this week he said, "We have seen Ohio taxpayers raped by the charter school for-profit entities in this state and the e-school. It’s shameful, it is shameful. It’s an embarrassment."

Washington Free Beacon: “Ohio Democratic Senate candidate Ted Strickland said Wednesday that the state’s taxpayers have been “raped” by charter schools…This is not Strickland’s first controversial comments of the election cycle. He also suggested that the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death came “at a good time,” a remark for which he later apologized.”

Politico: Former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland claimed this week that for-profit companies associated with charter schools have "raped" his state’s taxpayers…t’s the second time this election cycle that NTK has captured Strickland making off-message remarks.
