The New York Post reports that after Sherrod Brown hired a registered transportation lobbyist to his committee staff, Brown used his perch on the Senate Banking Committee to steer millions of dollars back to his aide’s former employer—one of the top lobbyist groups in the transportation sector.
The news follows recent reporting that Brown has a storied history of hiring registered lobbyists to his staff despite decrying lobbyist influence in Washington.
“For someone who loves to criticize lobbyists, Sherrod Brown sure seems to be surrounded by a lot of them. After nearly 50 years in politics, it’s become clear that Brown is a card-carrying member of the swamp.” – NRSC Spokesman Philip Letsou
