After watching Tammy Duckworth’s embarrassing press conference yesterday, Hillary Clinton may wait another 263 days to hold one of her own.

Three weeks after Barack Obama’s secret $400 million cash payment to Iran was exposed, Duckworth is still in denial:

REPORTER: "Did you see his statement about the $400 million payment, was his argument was that wasn’t leverage, that was ransom. And if that’s his argument, could you address that?"

DUCKWORTH: "Well I have only seen what I’ve seen in the media so far and from what AP has reported, some of the media has said that that was money that was going anyway so that it was not ransom. I will be back in Washington next month and I’m sure we will get plenty of briefings on this and I’m looking forward to it, but I also think that his call for hearing or something on this or something on this is a waste of taxpayer time and money and again he should worry about doing his job as Senator."

You almost – almost, have to feel bad for Duckworth.

Either she actually doesn’t know what the word ransom means or she is unaware that even the Obama administration admits the payment was "contingent on the release of a group of American prisoners."

We’re not sure which is worse.

As a reminder for Duckworth, the State Department’s admission literally meets the textbook definition of ransom:

Meanwhile, in his capacity as chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on National Security and International Trade and Finance, Mark Kirk will soon hold an oversight hearing to examine the question that Duckworth doesn’t seem to care about: will taxpayer money finance Iranian terrorist activities?

Duckworth’s disturbing response to efforts aimed at determining whether the ransom will fund terrorism?

"A waste of taxpayer time and money."

If Duckworth wants to know what "a waste of taxpayer time and money" looks like, she should take a good look at the $40,000 settlement from her VA whistleblower retaliation trial.

Back when she decided to vote for the Iran nuclear deal, Tammy Duckworth defied the will of Illinois voters.

By not knowing what the word ransom means and calling the investigation of a $400 million payment to the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism a "waste," Duckworth is now defying common sense.
