Washington, D.C. – When Tim Ryan ran a failed presidential campaign in 2019, he said he would support eliminating cash bail nationwide.
Cash bail and crime more broadly have emerged as a top issue for many voters this election, and rightfully so. Ending cash bail would allow felons to roam the streets freely before their trial. With crime surging in states across the country, ending cash bail would only contribute to making communities less safe than they already are.
Like other Democrats running for senate this cycle, Tim Ryan’s stances on crime are too soft for Ohio.
