New reports show that Andre Carson, a top campaign surrogate for Mexico Joe Donnelly, attended a private meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and noted anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, along with Democratic National Committee Deputy Chairman Keith Ellison.
Carson, who starred in Mexico Joe’s campaign kickoff radio ad, met with Farrakhan and Rouhani just before the Obama administration agreed to the Joint Plan of Action, the precursor to the disastrous Iran nuclear deal. At the time, Iran was aggressively developing their nuclear weapons and ballistic missile program that was threatening Israel and other Western nations. In light of this startling revelation about his key supporter’s history of dining with oppressive dictators and bigots, will Mexico Joe denounce Carson? Or, considering that Mexico Joe voted for President Obama’s Iran deal, which sent billions in sanctions relief to a state supporter of terrorism, will he tacitly endorse Carson and his extremism.
“After Mexico Joe’s unpopular vote in favor of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal, it shouldn’t be a surprise that his top campaign surrogate was meeting with the head of the oppressive regime,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “If Mexico Joe won’t immediately denounce Andre Carson, it will prove that he can’t be trusted to keep the United States or our allies safe.”
