NRSC Chairman Rick Scott: Americans Disgusted by Omar’s Anti-Israel Comments, But Demings Content With Remaining Quiet
Washington, D.C. – Instead of seeking to remove Ilhan Omar from her influential post on the Foreign Affairs Committee for her anti-Semitic comments last week, over the weekend Nancy Pelosi called Omar a “valued member of our caucus.” Instead of standing with the members of her caucus who rebuked her comments, Pelosi made clear that House leadership “did not rebuke” her.
Over the weekend, Congresswoman Val Demings’ own Democrat colleague in the House, Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy penned an Op-Ed calling on leaders to speak up against anti-Semitism.
“What we need is clear. We need leaders in Washington, Tallahassee, and communities around the country to condemn anti-Jewish conduct in morally unambiguous language, without any attempt to excuse, rationalize, or justify such behavior.”
But Senate hopeful Val Demings has remained silent to make sure she doesn’t upset her “squad” pal Ilhan Omar, even if that means tacit support for anti-Semitism. This doesn’t sound like the kind of “leader” Murphy wrote about.
Statement from NRSC Chairman Rick Scott: “The Democrat Party is in serious need of soul searching. Speaker Pelosi’s defense of Congresswoman Omar on Sunday shows how scared Democrat leadership is by the radical liberals in their base. By backpedaling their criticism of the hateful comment instead of moving to remove Omar from her Foreign Affairs committee assignment, Pelosi showed the world that her party is wholly controlled by the socialist wing – a bunch of radicals who believe America is rotten to the core. Americans reject this notion and are disgusted by the recent anti-Israel comments from Omar, and the rest of the ‘squad.’ Val Demings may be content with remaining quiet but as she seeks a promotion in 2022, she will be in for a surprise when the voters have a chance to share their opinion at the ballot box.”
