Washington, D.C. – The winds are spinning PoliticalWeathervane Mark Kelly in circles once again. After running a campaign in which, he was backed by liberal Democrats but refused to say where he stood on issues important to them, Arizona progressives are starting to think they got sold a bill of goods.
“Arizona Senator Mark Kelly was sworn into office two months ago, but a critical Latino group has weighed pulling their support for the freshman Democrat after Kelly voted in favor of an amendment that would bar undocumented immigrants from obtaining stimulus aid.” – Newsweek
It turns out, trying to be everything to everyone rarely works out.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman Chris Hartline: “Now that he’s in the U.S. Senate, Mark Kelly is starting to realize that it’s harder to please everyone when you have to take real votes. He’s getting hit from the right and the left on immigration, an issue central to his campaign and his fake independent image. What Kelly will realize soon enough is that he can’t please everyone. Who will he side with? D.C. Democrats Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders and the open border advocacy groups or vast majority of Arizonans who want secure borders?”
